For a long time, the inconsistency in dress sizes across different stores has been a source of frustration, particularly for women.

A size 10 in one store might surprisingly match the measurements of an XL in another. It's baffling that a universal clothing size system hasn't been established yet.

Considering this, it's understandable that many shoppers are unaware of the significant difference between a size 2XL and a size XXL. Yes, it's true. They are not identical.

Therefore, if you've ever felt discouraged because an XXL in one shop feels much tighter than your usual 2XL, there's a reason behind it.

Then, a 2XL is the size that comes after XXL.

Interestingly, clothing labeled as XXL is designed in the same way as smaller sizes but scaled slightly larger in all directions.

On the other hand, 2XL garments are reportedly designed with plus-size figures in mind, meaning the pattern is adjusted to fit better, not just enlarged.

This topic was highlighted by a TikTok influencer who demonstrated the notable differences between these two sizes, stressing that they are not just alternative labels for the same thing.

Taking to the video-sharing platform last year, @samyra - who boasts over 2.3 million followers online - tried on three different outfits: a top, a shirt, and a dress, in both sizes.

While wearing the XXL, Samyra noted that the waist of the first top sat too high under her bust, she couldn't button the shirt in the second outfit, and the final pink dress was uncomfortable to put on.

She then tried the garments in a 2XL, showcasing how much roomier they appeared and the additional fabric used in their construction.

However, many of the social media star's followers seemed unaware of the substantial difference between these sizes.

In the comments section of her viral video, one fan confessed: "Wow, I never realized there was such a big difference in sizes."

Another shared: "XL VS 1X is how I discovered I was considered plus size in clothing! That XL wasn't fitting at all."
