Taylor Swift fans have same reaction to man claiming to be her ex after he responds to Travis Kelce engagement

A man who claims to have been Taylor Swift's high school boyfriend has released an emotional statement following the news of her engagement.

For those who might have missed the star-studded announcement, earlier this week (26 August), the Grammy-winner took to Instagram to reveal that her NFL star boyfriend Travis Kelce had asked the all-important question.

In a charming photo collection from a private rose garden, the Kansas City Chiefs tight-end was seen getting down on one knee.

In another photo, the 35-year-old Travis was captured presenting Taylor with a massive old mine brilliant-cut diamond set in a gold bezel.

The celebrity couple's joint announcement, which has since garnered over 34 million likes, was captioned: "Your English teacher and your gym teacher are getting married."

In the days following the announcement, one of Travis' ex-girlfriends, sports journalist Kayla Nicole, broke her silence by sharing a video on her social media featuring Tracee Ellis Ross discussing the difference between joy and happiness.

"Read about this very concept years ago in a book called Choose Joy: Because Happiness Isn't Enough," Nicole captioned the post. "I aspire! So so good."

However, another ex-boyfriend has since spoken out - this time, from Taylor's past.

And before you get excited, it's not Joe Jonas, Taylor Lautner, John Mayer, Jake Gyllenhaal, Harry Styles, Calvin Harris, Tom Hiddleston, Joe Alwyn, or Matty Healy.

In fact, it's a tech boss and video editor named Andy Slye.

Last night (28 Aug), the man in question took to X (formerly Twitter) to share a very old photograph of himself posing with the 'Love Story' singer, claiming to be one of her first loves.

"That feeling when your girlfriend from high school finally gets engaged," Slye - who also works as a wedding photographer - captioned the sweet photo. "I used to tell myself: 'Andrew, it’ll be ok. She wasn’t right for you'."

He continued: "I just hope her husband isn’t some handsome buff football player."

While there's no definitive proof that Slye and Swift actually dated, his witty post has gone viral online, with Swifties praising him for his gentlemanly reaction.

"Looks like you’re a wedding photographer… Maybe she can use one coming up?!" one person joked in the comments.

Another agreed: "They’re going to need a wedding videographer."

"Are you the reason for teardrops on her guitar?" a third teased.

A fourth commented: "Underrated tweet lol."

In a follow-up post, Slye confirmed that he is actually happily married, and gave a nod to the 'Cruel Summer' hitmaker for providing him and his wife with some initial common ground.

"I wouldn’t have hit it off with my wife if it weren’t for Taylor," he explained. "Taylor was a topic the first time we met. We bonded over the music. "Now we film weddings as a husband/wife team. We love to film football weddings (like this ND one).

"Is anyone else thinking what I’m thinking?"

We certainly are, my friend!
